Combustion is a form of creation (equaling H20 and C02 )

So I started this painting yesterday when I had a hundred other things I was suppose to be doing. I am stuck, due to the fact that I am contemplating making the entire thing in a monochromatic blue/turquoise. Since this is from an already artful picture, I feel I should do something drastic to change it so it will not be a lame attempt of replication. The source picture is called I fell in love with an alien by the lovely and talented Vampire-zombie of Deviant art. If the monochrome fails and this picture turns out bad, the next post on it will feature me burning the piece >: )

  1. I like the title of this post! I love your watercolors & your art just in general. I think this painting looks amazing so far, keep going!

  2. Thank you, I hate chemistry, but it makes cool titles sometimes. I was working on the dress portion today, and its pretty hard to get it right, hopefully I will have better luck tomorrow.

  3. You wanna go monochromatic? Wow... Well, the tonal values in the photo are all somewhat blah, but the depth of field makes the figure so crisp that the punchiness makes it all work. If you go mono, I think you're going to need to simplify the shadow and light areas, possibly making it more illustrative. I'd just be worried about making the image flat, with a large portion of the work devoted to same colored / blurred wheat (is that wheat?)...

  4. I don't know what you mean, but the tones in that picture are amazing. I have seen her other pictures, and she is pretty talented.
